As Chair of the Committee of IFLA’s International Advocacy Programme, on the 12th of October, I participated in the kick-off of the Train the Trainers workshop on the contribution libraries can make to development agendas, principally the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The International Advocacy Programme (IAP) is a new IFLA capacity building programme designed to promote and support the role libraries can play in the planning and implementation of the global goals.

The IFLA ALP team aims to establish an engaged community of advocates who will clearly articulate the significant opportunities to increase the profile and impact of library and information professionals in the achievement of sustainable development goals.

These Workshops will be held in cities all over the world during the months of November and December, including Singapore, Pretoria, Montevideo and Brussels.
